Plants and Curb Appeal - Keeping Them Healthy

By
Real Estate Agent with RLAH@properties AB95346

Lately, I've been noticing an awful lot of dead and wilted flowers at homes that are for sale.  So yesterday, it was a real pleasure to see these very fresh and healthy blooms at a new Evers listing on Underwood Street in Chevy Chase.

If your sellers (or you) are starting out with healthy looking flowers, either inside or out, it's important to keep them looking great, even with our hot, muggy rainy.

If you are planning a move to or from the Washington, DC area, I can help!  I am licensed in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.  You may call, email or text me at:

Dead or wilted flowers are pretty depressing. Probably worse than no flowers at all. These are wonderful. With the heat DC gardeners must be particularly challenged right now.

The flowers are looking good, they look like someone has been taking care of them.

Good luck and success.

Are biggest challenge here is the watering, it's seems we go from a surplus to a deficit in no time.

Someone cares about their beautiful flowers.  Nice to see beautiful colors as the yards go brown.

Hi Pat -- first impressions count and seeing dead flowers as a potential buyer approaches your home definitely sets the wrong tone.

Dead, wilted flowers are worse than if the property owner, landlord, whoever did not bother to plant anything at all. Pride, respect, water to make the eyecandy rich colored, healthy and in bloom adds to the curb appeal for sure Pat!

Patricia - Frazzled flowers are an eyesore for sure--reminds me I need to stop by a listing and water the potted plants by the entrance.  Even though we're coastal we enjoyed some very warm days this week.

Patricia it's been a tough summer for plants here on the east coast...and it is so pleasant to see well cared for gardens.  It makes me feel cooler just looking!

Hi Pat.  It sure kills the curb appeal by not tending to your landscaping.  It really makes the neighborhood shine when flowers and grass is maintained.

It's tough with all the drought right now, but so important to keep those plants watered.  Great advice for sellers!

I just pulled up my wilted burned flowers out of my flower beds tonight and trimmed the dead stuff off-- but I don't think my neighbors have been focused on that, instead they are glad the roll off dumpster is gone from my driveway.  When you put a pool in its MAJOR construction and not pretty!

Hey!  Thank you for your comments.  Hmmm.  Frazzled flowers!  Yes, it's been a really tough summer for flowers and lawns.  These were just beautiful, and I had to grab my I-Phone to take advantage of it.

Great picture of the annuals.  Kind of makes us sad that it is already august and the flowers are soon going to fade to AR posts... :)

It's tough to keep the flowers looking vibrant in this heat and drought, which is why I recommend that sellers take pictures of their yards when they are looking their best!
