YouTube Thursdays reminds you to check out Craig Daniels new course " Video Essentials for your Business. " A ton of research has gone into this course and it will save you the headache of learning things the hard way.

If you're going to put the time and effort into creating videos - why not do them right? This course covers everything from equipment, to file management, to editing how-to's in Windows Movie Maker, Sony Vegas, and iMovie.

The first three modules are just about ready to go. Craig will open up the general registration sometime this weekend, or by Monday at the latest. Here's a landing page for more information and to get signed up for Video Essentials for your Business.

Here's what Craig has outlined for these first three Modules:

Module 1 is about inspiration and getting you thinking about your video style

Module 2 is about some tech foundation stuff and your FIRST video footage

Module 3 is about doing your first video edit project- in mod 3 there is a cool little homework assignment we call the 6 by 10 - you'll learn what that is

So what are you waiting for? This is one of the most comprehensive video courses you'll find, and the best part - if you get stuck - you can call or email the instructors with your questions.

And remember, once you start shooting video, it justs gets easier and easier - especially if you start out on the right foot. Video Essentials for your Business will make the process so much more rewarding.

Remember, videos that highlight your community and interests help prospective clients get to know you. Here's an example. This video was taken last summer during a camping trip at the beach.

Debb - you could be a reporter on national TV, you're so good! You sound so professional, at ease, but not fake (like others I've seen) and don't miss a beat. While I think anyone can learn to make a video, not everyone is going to be a natural like you! I did take some video with my iPad while in Marth'a Vineyard and let's just say you can tell it's my first video, lol. You inspire me to keep at it until I become a natural too! Now I feel like having fresh oysters!

Learning how to do things yourself is great. Gaining new skills is personally rewarding. I am of the belief that if you aren't expert at something you should outsource it as it will prove to cost less than figuring it out on your own. Plus that takes time away from whatever you do best. I have a very affordable professional video producer that I work with who has done well over 100 videos for me and I have invested only a few thousand dollars - which for many real estate, mortgage and other professionals represents less than one deal. I could never have done that on my own without sacrificing a lot of time from my primary responsibilities.

Randy, there is something to be said for that, as long as you can impart a bit of yourself and people can get a sense of "who YOU are." Making connections is the critical aspect of doing these community based videos...

I don't think you have to be an "expert." There are many slick videos on YouTube that bore the hell out of me...make it entertaining and I can forgive a few technical aspects. However, we do have to have the basics - good audio, good lighting and good skills to keep the shot still, panning slow etc - all are necessary.

Anita, I wondered what software you used...lucky you to have a daugther work on the video marketing...

I some people are more creative. When you love doing video it will show. If it doesn't come easy there is probably another strength you have that comes easy. Video has become a passion and it is filling a creative aspect that just seo and real estate can't fill.
