It's got to be here somewhere
Still some months shy of two years of actively participating in ActiveRain but about the anniversary of when I started lurking because I did not have much to say/did not know what to say, I can look back with pleasure on my associations formed in ActiveRain.
I dipped my toe (metaphorically of course because I come up a little short in that department.) ~ I was encouraged and challenged. I tried some more, and the horn of plenty delivered..
I contribute, I like to think, regularly (the numbers down the side show my lapses and shortfalls). I have made lots of friends, very quickly, I might add, especially for an older person relatively new to this country. and what a way to learn about a new environment than from interested individuals living in all parts of it ~ individuals who show a love of their local area in photos and comment. I admit to my bias of my own mountains of Utah, my choice for living in Sandy UT But, I always like where I choose to live - all a part of my life experience.
I have swum with you in distant oceans, visited new and exciting places, attended your regional and local events laughed with you at meet-ups, eaten with you at your favorite restaurants, exercised and lost weight with you, shared fire, flood and disaster with you, your sorrows and your joys learned from your collective wisdom, built a must-see/do list beyond comprehension. I am constantly inspired by your hope and determination
You have tolerated my idiom and my idiosyncrasies: you have been gracious and generous in your comment and advice. When I may have been missing through circumstances beyond my control, you have shown genuine concern and interest in my well-being.
Where have I benefited most? In writing, graphics and photography (I have learned and reinforced so much in a short time. In friendly competition. In meeting deadlines and being consistent. In having something to say. And in being thick-skinned enough to realize that not everyone agrees with me; what they think of me is really none of my business.
So I have a cluttered desk, heaps to do, things to learn stuff to read and new ideas to try.
Life is a magnificent ride, so full of new adventures. I am happy to have interesting people to share it with.
