Marketing Is A Disciplined Sport...Who Wins If You Stop Marketing?

Marketing is a disciplined sport!!It could easily be considered one of the most disciplined activities in real estate. The typical reaction to a new event in real estate is high energy and plenty of enthusiasm.

How many times have you planned a program and the energy level was through the roof at the beginning of the endeavor.Every action raises the adrenaline level another notch. The first few days are electrifying.

The longer it takes for the phone to ring, the less energy and a lower the level of enthusiasm. The discipline begins to dilute. The strength and vivacity are weakening with each passing day and by day 30, the game is over.

Real estate marketing is like training for a sport. The training never ends as long as one is participating in that sport. If the training is sporadic, the results will be unacceptable. In order to be successful with marketing, one needs to be disciplined and not miss a beat.

I write blog posts about our Sunday open house events on Thursdays.I write them on three different platforms and Thursdays leave enough time for Google to index it and for me to correct any errors.I’ve not missed writing Thursday open house posts in three years. It’s a discipline that needs to be successfully accomplished or every Sunday will be a disappointment.

We need to move property and it takes marketing discipline to reach the final event. Our gold medal is the commission check at the end of every closing. We love our collection of gold medals!!

Barbara: Your personal writing style and your great posts (and your discipline with respect to the editorial calendar) deserve a platinum medal--if there is such a thing.

Yes I liken it to training for the Olympics as it takes hard work, dedication, discipline, going when you're beyond exhaustion, passion, enthusiam, team work and years and years of consistency.

So true and suggested. We have to find a way to keep up that level of enthusiasm. I'm going to try blogging about open houses.

Hello Barbara, I guess I pace myself and do expires twice a week, renters post cards twice a week, even if I am out showing homes.  Just means I need to start earlier some days.

The best way to get off the rollercoaster ride is to market, market, market, market - and not just when you need leads, but always. Thanks for the reminder.

"Blogging on three different platforms never missing a Thursday for 3 years" and that's just the open house blogs. A huge commitment to make and what a great achievement to have pulled it off. It's just one of the reasons you are my marketing hero.

Suggested!  What a great analogy, Barbara.  Your example of how you market your open houses every Thursday is a perfect example of discipline.

Great reminder Barbara.  Our marketing is never for naught.  Clients have held on to some of my marketing pieces for two years before they have called me. Our marketing is never for naught.

Nice kick in the pants this morning. lol I made a 'schedule' of blog post topics I want to cover and what days I want to post them. Was just thinking about letting myself slide on today's topic. Shame on me! The Olympic analogy is a very good one...and one that will keep me motivated
