Two Ears and One Mouth


Just read a great blog by Tammy Lankford, Eatonton Georgia.  Tammy’s blog outlines how well she listens to her clients and how much they trust her because of her ability to translate that skill into her profession of finding exactly the right home. Great blog Tammy!

Her blog made me think of something I used to tell my girls whenListening they were growing up.  Now raising 3 girls was challenging enough, but imagine how vocal things were!

So my saying goes like this, “You were given 2 ears and one mouth.”  Two ears, as in you’re supposed to listen twice as much as your one mouth can speak.  

Seems like a lesson that is worth repeating!  To this day, I work to remember that lesson in everyday life no matter where I am.  Whether it’s a friend, the check out clerk at the grocery store, or a client, listening twice as much will earn you twice the respect whether it’s in your personal or your professional life.

The opposite to this is what a carpenter said to me on a crew I worked on during my teenage years. He said Winston you have a big enough mouth for two sets of teeth. I guess that's why I do well selling over the phone. Call me.....
