I got a call from a potential new buyer. They found me online and "Would I show them a home at a particular Country Club in La Quinta?" They told me they were not working with a Realtor yet and were "just getting to know the area." Hmmm...normally, that would not be enough info. My Gut told me they were just using Realtors to get into gated communities..probably calling a Realtor in each that had a listing. But..I'm glad I went anyway.
I had the time to start with. Huge for Realtors, right? It was not my listing, and I had not showin in this community for quite some time. I opted to show the home and increase my knowledge of the Inventory and layout of that development.
I prepared for several hours online. Put together comps, and studied recent sales. It was about 110 degrees and sweltering at our 1 pm appointment time. Then I got there about 40 minutes early..I wanted to spend the time learning the "lay of the land" again, and visiting the Clubhouse, which had been recently renovated.
Did I make a sale? No. Did I sign up new potential Buyers? No. (I quickly knew they were just sight-seeing). Did I expand my knowledge of the development? YES! Hence the picture..employee dedication..
Sometimes, you just have to do things to increase the depth of your business knowledge, even if it's not fun, nor immediately profitable. Who ever said working for yourself takes LESS hours than a "full time job?" Not me..
