If you follow my blog you know I'm a huge fan of Osprey and never grow tired of watching them fly and fish. Today I was out on a walk in the Outer Banks and found this Osprey sitting at the end of the pier. It is probably the closest I've actually gotten to an Osprey in all of my time watching them. This one was intent on looking for food in the sound and stayed around allowing me to get my to get a number of good photos.
So days you get lucky and today was one of them.

You did get lucky and that's a beautiful photo. So majestic and the coloring in the feathers is so pretty.
Great picture. A CA friend who lived in VA for a couple years (while working on the space shuttle) said VA birds are better than CA birds.
Connie-my iPhone is good for some photos but when I'm out on a more serious photo shoot my camera is my companion.

Lloyd-when I have traveled to CA in the past I haven't been looking at the birds. Now I will.

They are very large birds. Never forget the first time I saw one up close. :)

Steve-where I live we have Osprey and Bald Eagles. The Eagles make the Osprey look small. It's all perspective.
