Nashville Home Inspector - What's Wrong With This Picture? 8-10-12

Home Inspector with HABITEC Home and Building Inspections, LLC

Look at the picture below.  What's wrong?

HINT: You are looking at an interior component of a HVAC split system.

Dusty float Switch

ANSWER: Dust, lots of dust!  A it is covering the float switch installed on the emergency drip pan.  So what are the chances it will work when you need it?  Well let's not take any chances.  HABITEC recommends to get this thing cleaned, even if you just vacuum it off.  Anything is better than this accident waiting to happen.

Thank you,

Richard Acree

This is the dirtiest float switch I have ever seen.  It is amazing what accumulates in behind closed metal doors!
