The dog days of Summer are upon us in Southern California. The term "dog days" was a term coined by the Romans who believed that Sirius (the dog star) was responsible for hot days if the star rose before or at sunrise. They event went as far as sacrificing a brown dog to appease the rage of Sirius. It is a good thing we know about equinoxes today.
We have heat waves up and down the state, and even with our proximity to the ocean some parts of Santa Barbara County will top the 100 degree mark. We loved these bright pepper plants, and they are hot according to the grower. Hot foods are traditionally eaten in hot times to encourage sweating to cool the body.
Wishing you a delightful Saturday, Cheers, Ron & Alexandra
