I had a great time last Thursday at the Jenni Finlay 6th anniversary party. I went to see James McMurtry, yes he's Larry McMurtry's son and he was fantasic. I also got the chance to hear some artists that I wasn't familiar with, everyone was quite good but there were some standouts. Lincoln Durham was incredible, he blew the roof off. Pandora say I like lyric driven rock with minor chords - whatever that means, but if you like the Blues and Outlaw Country you've got to check him out, here's a link.
I also really enjoyed Rod Picott, great working class blues.
This was the first time I went to the Cheatham St. warehouse and I'll definitely go back. The place was intimate, smoke free (when I was there) and they have an outstanding bar, at least for my needs, Maker's Mark, Jameson & Glenlivet 12 along with the usual suspects. It was a great night, and I'll be back. You should check them out.
