Your Raleigh, Cary, Apex Area Real Estate Agent Remembers Mickey Mantle Today...

Maris, Mantle, Rutman!

It was on this day in 1995 that we lost Yankee icon, Mickey Mantle.

Forever known as "A Great Teammate" to the Yankees, and baseball fans alike, here's a nice little tribute to "The Mick".

Craig- and that's when baseball was baseball. 20 times selected to the All-Star Game is impressive.  And, when I think baseball, his name is the first to pop up.

Wow, it is hard to believe that it has been 17 years.  I'll have to remind my friend who is a huge Yankee fan.  I did not know he was in 20 All Star games.  That is pretty amazing.  How many pro ballplayers can say they have 20 year careers, let alone all star appearances.

Craig - I'm not really a sports enthusiast (unless the Giants are playing) but even I know of the legendary Mickey Mantle. He is an American icon and while all his statistics are so amazing, I didn't know that he played in 20 All Star Games! He was and is an inspiration to so many up and coming baseball players! Have a great week!

He has been gone since 1995 and today I just wrote about another great we lost today. Someone who was on the field almost every day of his life. The great Johnny Pesky, he will be remembered by Boston fans hopefully forever.

Craig: Sad to say but other than knowing he was a baseball player I did not know what team he played for.  Don't judge me.  LOL

Craig, it is very nice of you to remind everybody about it..
I am sure he was a great baseball player!

Sorry, I am just eating hotdogs during the games.

Have a great week.

I was lucky enough that my Dad brought me to see him play twice at Fenway Park in the early 60's.  They say he's the only player who the hot dog vendors stopped selling hotdogs to watch him bat.  I have never witnessed the same electricity at a ball park or any other sporting event as when Mantle came to the plate.  His powerful swing was like no other.

Hi Craig.  Can you imagine what other records he could have if alcohol didn't interfere.

Craig, I think Mantle and others of his time were something special, not only ability, but character as well.  It's an era of baseball and sports in general that will be missed.
