El Paseo Art Galleries

The other day a girlfriend of mine and I, had sat down at a quaint little patio restaurant on El Paseo, Blvd. Nothing too pricy, just exceptional service and great food; if you have never been to the El Paseo shopping district in Palm Desert, then you need to see it. It is second to none and many say it is much nicer and better kept than even Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, CA.

Call me a Californian, but I like to eat healthy to stay in shape, as it allows me to enjoy this great clean living out here in the desert resort city. Anyway, as I am sipping on my ice tea, doing a little people watching, a favorite past time and eating my BLT. Yes a BLT and it was to die for, they sure make a killer sandwich, just what a girl needs.

Oh, whoops, I started thinking about my BLT, and forgot to make my point here. I over heard someone next to us, say that Palm Springs is such an "artsy-fartsy place, I think we should go check out some of the art galleries there." They were two nice ladies obviously from Southern California somewhere and I kind of chuckled.

Why? Well, because Palm Springs and Palm Desert does not just have "artsy-fartsy art" as this is home to some of the greatest artists in the nation. In fact not long ago another friend of my went to check out Kate Buckley's art, yes, she lives here. And of course, Helga King's art is on display here as well, but you have to make an appointment to see it.

Other famous artists here include Thomas Kinkaid, Jerry Miller (photographer), Ron Chespak (sculptor), Martin Wilson, and Elisabeth Furstenberg. Then these are many superb galleries like the Desert Art Center, Montana St. Martin, Exposure and Photograph, and the Adagio. So, I decided not to interrupt the ladies next to us, I figure boy will they learn what art is really about out here in the Palm Desert and Palm Springs area - We know art!

Elaine, that is pretty cool. I never realized that Palm Springs or that high-end Palm Desert city you mention was such an Art Haven. It makes sense. I just never knew it. Thank you- Lance
