I’m Ready To Scamp!
My first job out of Tech School (now known as Technical College) was working as a Motorcycle Mechanic for a brand new dealership called The Escape Hatch in MoorheadMinnesota. That was 40 years ago… of course I was -1 years old then being I’m only 39 now (I wish).
I don’t have a lot of pleasant memories of that job but one of the good ones I do remember was that we were a dealer for a really cool little camper called a Scamp. From that time on I thought “some day I will own a Scamp”.
Obviously it wasn’t my highest priority or I would have purchased one a little sooner then 40 years on. Actually I had kind of forgot about dream until I moved to a neighborhood where I’d see one in a neighbors back yard when I’d walk by. For 10 years I’d asked the neighbor if it was time to sell yet. This fellow is like 200 years old so I was surprised it took 10 years to wear him down.
The interior was a bit ratty and needed paint but 3 weeks of hard work, mostly by my 12 year old daughter who can’t wait to use it, have made it look pretty sharp. I realize I should have had her in the picture but I’m pleased to point out the pretty girl is my bride and the little rodent next to her is my daughters pet guinea pig, Titus. I think Tina is in the camper working away.
