I think I will show this to Chief Cook...I wanted to build a spider birdhouse, but she vetoed that. I can't imagine why!?!
PS - How do you do those frames? I wanted to frame that last shot of the kitties, but don't know how.
The spider has some great colors, by the way. Thanks for sharing the beauty!
Ron, first go sign up for www.ribbet.com and then email me. I'll give you step by step instructions. I don't know but a spider birdhouse might turn into a spider fight club...not certain how well they would play nice!
Valerie, I'm not crazy about them in the house but since experts say we are never more than 3 feet from a spider no matter where we are...I just comfort myself with the knowledge they are eating all the other bugs, lol.
I'm sure Leslie will enjoy you telling that little tid bit of information.......................
Roger, no doubt I'm on thin ice with this story but I'm a big girl and am not the one freaking out over the spiders. I have my own insecurities to deal with. Maybe she won't even read this, lol. My mother is actually the one I'm more concerned with!
Good morning Mona. I have never seen this sort of spider but indeed it is beautiful if a little scary. Wonderful picture and story.
Oh she'll read it.................your Mother too! I think you're in big trouble. You think you'd like Fairport Harbor?
Hello Mona,
I really don't mind spiders. It all the webbing I get caught up in when I inspect a home. Crawl spaces and attics are the worst.
Have a really quiet Sunday in DillsBoro, N.C.
Best, Clint McKie
And for the record, this was not an itsy, bitsy spider. This picture was an itsy, bitsy bit bigger than actual size, but not by much. I will proudly, and wisely continue to stay as far away from them as possible. They ALL seem to love to bite me, and although I try to respect all other life forms, bite me once, shame on you. Bite me twice.....SPLAT.
Mona- I would have been hiding guarding you from behind the glass door... ready to open it in a flash of an eye if you were in any trouble! Ha! I was just searching for spiders in North Carolina- it looks a little bit like some kind of a wolf spider? If so, it does mention they can give defensive bites.. so I would still be protecting you from afar.. one has to live tell the tale..
Mona, not a spider fan myself, but like the detail work in the photo! Enjoy your day!
Maria, a little Nair is in order, isn't it?
Sheila, once in a while I see something other than the Daddy Long Legs variety.
Roger, guess I can run but I can't hide! where's Fairport Harbor?
Jeanne and Ralph, not so bad in the photo but have to admit when I saw it walking I was a bit nervous.
Clint, the webbing is sticky and icky. I'd hate to be tiny and get stuck in it.
Leslie, ha ha...funny meeting you here!
Gay, yeah, I'll bet...in a flash, huh?
Wayne, thanks. At least I can figure out where they are in eco-system chain. Not so much with fleas and ticks.
That is an interesting looking spider. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, eh?
Than, I can only hope when he comes home to the den of webs that whoever is waiting there for him thinks he's quite the looker!
William, you crack me up...extract his due...lol.
Mona,
Hope you were using a telephoto lens and didn't get quite that close! Don't think I've seen one like that before.
Dorie, it was a macro lens and I was within inches of the little beastie. Don't worry though...had he moved and so would I have!
Hi Mona,
Great picture even though I really hate spiders. Glad it didn't bite anyone. We have a lot of black widows and sometimes the little brown recluse spider. Yuk!
