March Farm in Bethlehem CT, The Disney World of Farm Stands

March Farm, Bethlehem CTI went to the Disney World of Farm Stands yesterday, No joke! Saturday saw a variety of things for the SPA Team, we had a listing appointment in Bethlehem, some time to kill, then off to Woodbury for the second appointment.

After the first appointment we did a team field trip to March Farm in Bethlehem. Wow, what a fantastic place! I walked out of there with the best slab of Hunter Cheddar Cheese, made under the Cabot Cheese name by Twin Pine Farm in Thomaston. A great tip, if  you want to support your local dairy farmers, buy Cabot Cheese, it is owned by Agrimark, the coop that most of our New England dairy farmers own and ship milk to. This cheese was melt in your mouth fantastic! A loaf of olive bread, (all gone, sorry), tomatoes and peaches. Oh, how did I forget the jar of peach salsa that we also demolished, made by March Farm.

The best thing about March Farm is all the things to do! They have the March Farm Hayloft Playscape for the kiddies, they have farm animals to pet, they have a Farm Hike, they have pick your own, and right now you can pick your own peaches and blackberries. They have a mini corn maze open, they are getting revved up for apple picking and the big corn maze, they will provide hay rides, free of charge, for the apple picking season. (Apple picking will be very limited this year due to the storms we had in the fall, it is suggested that you call ahead to check it out. But even if you don't pick apples, there is plenty to do there!)

Bring the kids, bring the camera, pick up some fresh veggies and food and get ready for some real fun! March Farm, located at 160 Munger Lane in Bethlehem, CT. They are open 10-6 daily. I know where we are taking the grandkids next weekend!

Ooooooh! I love farm stands... we have 20+ within half an hour of our home. This sounds like a great one! You just can't head to the country without hitting one! Of course, they've sort of ruined me for grocery store fruit and veggies! Great localism post!

That cheese sounds so delicious, Andrea. Oh and the peaches and blackberries would make a fabulous cobbler or pie. Glad you had time to stop and enjoy.

Gretchen, I love them too, it is a great way to get fantastic fresh veggies AND support your local farmer. Thank you!

JoAnn, the cheese was to die for, and I should not have eaten as much as I did, LOL.

George, I did. And you should try Hunter Chedder, it is a bit sharp, but oh so good. And don't forget that if you buy Cabot products you support our New England dairy farmers.
