You are now down to 1 week before closing. There is still a small amount of hair left on your head that has not already been pulled out. What can you do this week to make sure that next weeks closing and move go well?
ð Confirm moving date and details with the moving company.
ð Close your bank account and arrange for bank checks to deposit money in your new bank. If possible, wire your money directly into your new bank account.
ð Get a bank check to pay the mover if necessary and certified funds for closing, if applicable.
ð Empty your safe deposit box and return the key. Make sure to keep your valuables with you or in a safe place.
ð Finish packing whatever items the moving company will not be packing.
ð Review packed boxes and make sure that they are labeled properly.
ð Drain gasoline from lawn mower and snow blower when relevant.
ð Defrost freezer and drain water to prepare for transport.
ð Backup all computer files.
Arrange for a friend or relative to help with the move and to stay in the home with the movers in case you need to leave briefly.
And above all else, try to maintain your sanity!
