Back to school with Kermit the Frog

The saying goes something like "it ain't easy being green".  Wrong!  It's just not as sexy!  When I mention to clients that I am GREEN Certified, I usually get a funny look and question like, "is that contagious?" to which my response is "it's not life-threatening but would you like to donate to the cure?".   Actually, many people think that being "Green" is being delusional to today's reality.  I believe, it's today's reality that forces me to think "Green".  So, how can you be "Green" without scaring away friends and loved ones AND saving some $$$?

Think "Recycle"!  As our kids go back to school think about what might be best reused vs. new.  Last year's pens, pencils, crayons & calculators?  In a month at school, no one will care what they look like.  REUSE!  And how about those college kids?  Do you really need to buy new furniture for their dorm rooms?  Do you know what happens to that stuff after you leave?  How about a great trip to any one of the over 800+ Habitat ReStores (17 in Pennsylvania) to outfit the campus apartment?  (http://www.habitat.org/cd/env/restore_detail.aspx?place=61)  This way, when that beverage gets spilled all over the couch, you aren't losing you mind over how much you spent on that nice new couch!  And there is some nice, functional, albeit, dated furniture at these ReStores.  And affordable too!  And besides the big money that you save, you pass along a great life lesson to your kids that it's good to recycle what you can for others to reuse.

Now that wasn't so hard was it Kermit?
