Reading the "Pape"..

Real Estate Agent with Edina Realty

How do you get your news? Listening to the radio? Watching it on TV? Readireadingng the paper? For as long as I can remember my dad has read the "paper" which really consists of more than one paper. We have all learned (at early ages) that you never ever ever touch his paper until he's had a chance to read it. Not even the funny section.

Every once in awhile Dad (now Grandpa) will let go of the funnies <early> in effort to keep little minds occupied and busy. It's always been this way. The rule? Don't mess it up. It has to come back in the order you received it and it's fair game on those precious days.

Not often enough do I see little people reading the paper. It's such a fostered habit and it just isn't seen by many that I hang around. I often wonder why.

We don't subscribe to the "funnies" but enjoy the paper every week. Seeing the interest in this particular section of the paper makes me wonder if we need to. Maybe I'll just make the newspaper people happy one of these days when they call to offer me 'a deal' on the Sunday delivery.

Aside from the funnies the newspaper holds a great deal of great news..... and in my aging I've discovered that I really prefer to hold the paper in hand rather than reading it off a screen.

The news papers seem to be shrinking in size as the internet news takes over.

You can't beat a good newspaper read Lindsey. One day your boys will refer to the paper, the way we talk about eight track players

Even when I was working downtown, I read the paper everyday.  Still do.  And, if someone "borrows" a section before I have had a chance to look at it, same thing.  I had better get it back in the same order as if it were still pristine.

You have those wonderful kids, you owe them one opportunity a week to learn a great habit.  Perhaps they will learn to read the sports page, and then, the business section, and you can retire in style!

Lindsey, some things are sacrosanct.  I remember the paper being all Dad's until later in the day.  Good to have you back!
