The men may be grumbling... but women are saying, "About time!"
Augusta National... the traditionally strictly male golf club has softened to the ladies. Women had been allowed to play there... and I have a few friends who have... but they have never been allowed to join the fraternity of male club members until now.
We have attended The Masters tournament at Augusta National twice, and it is an experience you will never forget. The golf course is pristine and steeped with history. Southern hospitality abounds in town and at the club. The vendors are friendly with no branding allowed... you choose light beer or regular. The pimento cheese sandwiches are fresh and (surprise) reasonably priced! The best golfers in the world play here and it is their favorite.
If you are a golfer, like me, the only thing better than attending the Masters would be to actually play the course. Lightening fast greens, narrow fairways, and perfectly manicured tees are the hallmarks of Augusta National-- but the history that emanates from this hallowed ground make it unlike any other.
Can you imagine driving up Magnolia Lane, valeting your car, lunching on Cobb Salad with ice tea, before heading to the range to warm up?
I never did... until now. I'm sending in my application!
