Thanks For The Bling, ActiveRain!

What’s the standing record for the most time it takes to reach 100,000 points on ActiveRain?  I’m not exactly sure.  Certainly, if I'm not in the running for top rank at least I'm deserving of an honorable mention.  Back when I joined ActiveRain in October 2011, I felt quite confident it would take forever to reach the 100,000 point milestone.  Well, it didn’t take forever, however, it did take 10 long months!

I do love my new 100,000 points icon, though.  Please indulge me as I share a close-up 'wearing my new jewel.'  Scroll down and take a look I'll wait ....

Doesn't the icon look sleek and elegant underneath my Rainmaker banner?  Seriously, I really wasn't in any hurry to garner all those zeros.  Because, as I see it, when striving to accomplish the most worthwhile achievements in life  it’s really the journey that counts, isn't it?  Since becoming an ActiveRain Rainmaker, I have already made acquaintance with many fabulously, wonderful people.  Plus, I have developed meaningful connections and great friendships – not to mention the innumerable and endless ways in which to learn, teach, and grow.

You just never know where life will lead you.  One thing I've rediscovered is that it's never too late to start over, dream big, learn new skills, and set aspiring goals.  Not surprisingly, I've also been reminded that 'grabbing the prize' is not necessarily the best part.  To me, it's what you experience along the way that matters most.  Hard work, perseverance, gaining knowledge, building relationships, and paying attention to valuable lessons are much more significant.  Without a doubt, I am not the same person I was 10 months ago.  And, I can almost guarantee that I will not be the same person 10 months from now either.  So, here's to ActiveRain and beyond!  I am looking forward to new adventures and reaching many milestones in the future.  More importantly, I welcome the opportunity to travel the long and winding roads I must follow to get there.

Carie,

Congrats on reaching the 100,000 milestone, I am certain you are not even close to the record for the length of time to reach that goal and actually may be in contention for just the opposite :)

Carrie, I think the first 100K was the hardest.  I am hoping to reach 300K before the end of the month... I know I can do it.

Carie, Congrats on the 100k milestone :)  And it took us over 3 years to get to 100k!  We signed up for a profile and picked up our initial points, then didn't come back for 3 years, then started logging in and lurking, then an occasional comment, then finally 6 months after that first comment our first post.  And then we STILL needed time after that to hit that 100k point.  Now you can't shut us up :)

Bill & Liz:  Thanks :)  And I appreciate you sharing your story.  Coming from such 'humble' beginnings and just look at you now!  Wowsers!!  Very inspirational ... thanks again :)

Hi Carie. First of all, Congratulations on passing the 100K mark! That first 100K was always a challenge for many of us. I am sure the next 100K will be a lot easier, now that you understand and know how to gain those points.

Congratu;ations, Carie, The first 100,000...hmmm...there are only a few % of bloggers can make it here...

(As we approach 300,000 member mark soon, I do not believe there are more than 3000 members with 100,000 points.)

If you ask me...I started blogging (?) on ActiveRain in June 2008 - and had less than 20,000 points till August 2010! And since then, no looking back...

Great job!   Yesterday one of my buyers agents asked me, "What difference does it make if you have all those points or not."   Great question.   As I see it, we all want to rack up as many ponits as possible because it will then build referral business with those agents we create relations ships with, it will also add google juice to all the links that are clicked on with people logging onto our individual data bases plus, I've found that with all the work it has taken to garner points on Active Rain, i.e., localism blogs, it is SO VALUABLE for the long haul and the more we do and the better we get at doing quality as well as quantity, it will build our businesses exponentially.    Do I have that right or does someone else have a different take on the benefits of Active Rain?   Please respond.   Shanna
