Hurricane Isaac And What To Do ASAP Insurance Wise

Tis the season to be back in the "box".  This means if you have an upcoming closing in South Florida the time is now, meaning ASAP, to lock in your insurance for any closings that may be scheduled for next week.  As we all know, a mortgage without insurance is not really a mortgage as the mortgagors do not want to risk their money on a possible disaster. And insurers will stop writing coverage shortly once the storm's path is better defined.

So I  have been on the phone with my clients to make sure they have their ducks lined up insurance wise so regardless of how Isaac affects us, they will be ready to close on schedule.  Back in 2004/2005 when the storms came roaring through many many deals were pushed off for this reason.  Experience tells us this is but a small hiccup that is easily solved with a little proactive work and some quick phone calls.

So Isacc, please stay away and turn North now so that we are free of your fury, but if you do not please give our clients that are closing next week the wisdom to get their insurance before you visit South Florida!

This is great information about insurance. It is so bad to have a closing delayed because no one can write the insurance coverage. You may have just saved someone a lot of heartbreak with this timely blog.

just remembering the times it was a learning curve for me way back then so it was the first thing I did yesterday to get my ducks lined up too!
