With the growing West Nile Virus problem,. we need a lot more of those frogs. Please let them know a lot of communities could use some green volunteers.
Joan, that's right. I don't know how the little fellows would adapt to the insecticide being sprayed in those communities.
They're eating all the mosquitoes! and I'm keeping the black lab away from the frogs.... but that "cat" is doing a number on the lizzards around here....she's trouble from the start.
They do have bulging eyes, don't they? What a fun shot. Don't see too many of these fellows around here, except in badly maintained swimming pools.
Hi Mona, feel free to send any brothers and sisters up here! My neighbor has a little pond (and when I say little, I mean tiny) but he does have 2 little froggies come visit it much to the delight of my girls!
Mona, I guess you can live with the "singing" noise if they will take care of ridding you of the insects! Enjoy your day!
Nellie, I understand the dilemna. When I take the four "little" dogs for their "finals" it is usually dusk or dark outside...the exact time that frogs go to work. It isn't easy keeping the little hunters from bothering the frogs. One night the pekingnese male actually brought one in the house in his mouth! It was a youngster frog, that's the only reason I can think of that Frosty didn't get the foamy mouth thing.
Pat, what can I say but yecch to badly maintained swimming pools.
Andrea, if your tiny pond has tiny frogs one would have to wonder who's winning...the frogs or the skeeters?
William, I would take frogs over rats anyday, no matter what the location.
Wayne, the singing sounds like an insect eating machine to me.
Good morning Mona. Terrific shoots. As I look at these photos I can't help but think how different our lives are. Frogs here....not so much. Enjoy the day.
Mona, I sure love these! You're right, they look like they just sat and said, "Well, OK, take my picture...from BOTH angles." The texture of the ground went beautifully with the patterning on his back. I loved these photos. What time of day/nite did you take them?
Mona - where do you live again? So many creatures (just stay away from the spiders!).. The frog looks cute.. and hopefully eating the mosquitoes.
Sheila, I'm sure our lives are very different but I'll bet our standards are similar!
Roger, Leslie is all about the frogs...she loves them, they probably eat spiders.
Hi Gayle, these were taken at about 8:45pm. Thanks so much.
Gay, we are in the backyard of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, western North Carolina mountains. Lots of creatures.
Patty, yep...the sign of a healthy eco-system.
Hi Mona,
Your frog looks like the skin of a snake. I do not think I have ever seen one that color before. Thanks for sharing as he is so cute!
Thanks Kristin, there are a bunch of those cute fellas here and you are correct, the skin is unusual.
