Some of you know that I use a lot of video, in many different shapes and forms.
One question that seems to come up a lot is this: WHY - why not just write it, that should do and I really don't like to be on camera.
To answer that, there is a simple but, I think, very important aspect of video that many forget.
Video allows you to show yourself, show your funny and sometimes goofy side - and people appreciate that. This one of my reasons to argue, that a video should not be too slick looking, your want to connect with your viewers, not just show them that you have a great production facility with talented editors.
To me, there are 2 main benefits of video:
- Connecting with people you have not met.
- Gaining substantial google juice.
Obviously, you can hand anyone a business card, but your video allows you to deliver your elevator speach while you are sleeping... Or on vacation for that matter...
Video has been pointed out by google as what they consider the future, and it gets great position in results - don't forget google owns youtube, so if your video has relevant keywords, it's a good thing.
It really does not matter what industry you are in, using video as a promotional tool, has a substantial benefits.
