POLITICS AND SPIRITUALITY...Fran's Friday Forum...!!!

Even entitlements are not distributed fairly, I see homeless people everywhere in America denied foodstamps or Section 8 housing but yet the government wants equality. A great man once said that everyone in America is give equal oppurtunity but not guaranteed equal results. Yes that great man was Paul Ryan.

Fran - While I will try real hard not to question your beliefs, that doesn't mean I won't challenge them.  What I'm getting from this post is that I and anyone who may support the current President is evil. 

With two political conventions taking place in the next two weeks, our Country on the precipice of economic and social disaster, and the present campaign a symbol of everything a good moral person hates.

I met you once in Philly and considered you a pretty pragmatic guy at the time.  I read you again just now, and am pretty damn sure I was wrong on my first impression, which is fine.

I won't sit here and attempt to know your version of Jesus and I certainly won't attempt to parlay to you mine.  Neither attempt will change the other's mind.

However, have a talk with God & Jesus and whomever ... and I'm sure they will substantitate that we aren't all that bad.  In fact, we may be the future.

Fran if I can input on Jason's comment: There is a law of physics that applies here, In Quantum physics there is the Law of Observation which states basically: All things are in a state of superposition until observed. The simple act of observing something changes what it is and how it acts. That's hard to wrap our minds around. Many much smarter people than I have argued results of all types of scientific experiments based upon how they observed them. I say that to say this, we must look and observe the future instead of the past or the present. If we see the future with hope we can effect that future, if we see no hope that too will effect the future. The media at large loves to project little to no hope so that we keep tuned in, thus the spin. We who know Jesus intimately know the future and it's our place to observe this life here and project hope into the future and as Jesus taught us to pray, let it be -Here on earth as it is in Heaven. In Heaven there is no capitalism, there is no profit producing, there is no sickness, no tears, no pain and no hate. The way we get there is not through government in any way shape or form. So what I'm daftly trying to say is we pray, we love one another and we instill hope into everyone we encounter of the hope of glory that is to come. Jason and your children and grandchildren are not the future, Jesus is the future and the more of Him in our lives, the more they, along with my children and future grandchildren, will prosper in all ways. How do we achieve this? By observing our lives in the future with more of Him showing than ourselves. We are all in a state of flux with both good and evil in front of us to choose. The more you and I choose good Blessings and project that onto others with no hidden agenda other than love and perfect shalom, the more our future will be filled with hope. Hope doesn't come in a politician but in the form of Jesus Christ and His return. Regardless of who our president is in 2013, we can change the world just by observing the future as we want to see it. I can and will live to the fullest whether Obama or Romney is my president, of that I'm sure. What I hope for is that the candidate that God wants will be our next leader.

Fran - You basically want a president with a great moral character. I think every American wants that. You don't have to be religious to have a strong moral character.

@Jason - You misunderstood the blog. This blog is a result of frustration by Christians by both candidates. One candidate is an evil Muslim and the other candidate is a cult follower. It wasn't just one sided. ;)

So Obama doesn't have a strong moral character, I remind Fran of a guy who prayed to win the lottery but failed to purchase a ticket, and Romney & Ryan are the clear choice because Obama has the wrong vision for America's future.

I do have that right according to what I'm reading, yes?

I am a part of American's future, Fran.  And my vision and your vision are a bit different.  And I'm not a Socialist anymore than you are are a Theologist.  Wait, I'm no Socialist.  Don't know about the latter.

Like any hunk of iron ore hidden below the surface, even religion can skew an otherwise perfectly good moral compass.

Fran, to be sure there are lots of things that skew our moral compasses---I just note religion here because so many people think it is the lack of religion that is the cause of so many of our problems.  In my experience it cannot be excluded from the list and in fact if you see problems around the world, you will not have to look very far to find religion involved on some level.  Of course everyone things their particular version is cool---if only everyone else would come over from the "dark side."  I find it very scary to think that religion would have any input at all in politics and that a country ruled by relgion would surely exclude more people than it would embrace.  Fortunately we live, so far, in a country ruled by laws that are supposed to be blind to religion---and I for one think that is a huge step in the right direction even if imperfect.  I am not sure I want anyone telling me what constitutes at "bad Christian, a bad Muslim or a bad Athiest"---that tells me that someone "knows" and I am not sure that can be done from a religious context but it certainly can be done from the rule of law.

Fran, if my people who are called by my name will repent and turn from their wicked ways then will I heal their land.

Oddly enough, I just wrote a post about not getting involved in politics during the course of my normal business affairs.
