Well, we are all packed up and the movers have dismantled the baby grand and put it into storage. My kitchen demolition starts on Monday, August 27 and if this isn't an instance of "construction creep" I don't know what is.

We moved in 5 years ago and did all but the kitchen and the floors. I just didn't have a vision. But, after 5 years in a house, it came to me and now I know. So, the dated white tile is being replaced with new wood floors and the existing wood floors are being sanded and refinished to blend (a la The Flooring Girl), and the kitchen is being completely demolished. While we are not expanding, we are definitely modifying the footprint. I am particularly excited by my new quartz countertops and my new backsplash to be! And of course, there will be painting. By the way, my love seats are being re-upholstered. And, and, and...

So, here it is, BEFORE the hammers start swinging. Thank Goodness for Dumpsters! I will keep you updated as La Cucina de Chez Cohlan gets a radical facelift!

Absolutely Caron, the dust is what I am most nervous about-hence my furniture is now in storage and plastic will be up everywhere!

Good morning Joanna -

Sounds like you're on a dusty mission my friend :) I hope you take step by step photos or even turn it into a YouTube to share with us! That would be awesome and Google would really love you for it too! We hated our kitchen from day one. A couple of years ago we decided it was move or change it. Changing it made more sense as we love the rest of our house. Five long weeks later it was done. Customized from end to end and we were both very happy we stayed planted and made the changes. The dust was the part that drove us both nuts but we lived to tell the tale as will you. Looking forward to pics!

We will live thru the dust-move out when it gets to be too much-and take lots of photos with lots of comments along the way and my husband is ready with the video camera. OH I feel for you Joanna. I just got new carpet throughout the house and EVERYTHING had to be moved. What a nightmare. But at least my kitchen was functioning except for one day when we redid the wood floors. Best of luck! It will be sooooo good when it is finished.

Hi Sheila, I already did the whole house, except for the kitchen and floors-which is just like a mini move since everything has to be packed up-it's easier when you haven't moved in yet! And yes, i'm already ready to plotz!

Hi Shar, I'm sure your new carpet looks beautiful and yes, everything has to be moved when you do floors. It's so much easier to do construction/renovations BEFORE you move in but I'm keeping my eye on the prize. Show photos of your new flooring!
