Ghost Rock in San Rafael County, Utah

Driving back to Colorado today, we came across some pretty cool rock formations in San Rafael County, Utah.  We pulled over to stretch our legs and read about the interesting formations and the story behind them.

It seems that in 1911, the Swasey Brothers were riding their horses through the fog and came across two huge white rock formations jetting out of the fog.  They thought they were seeing ghost and that is how the formations got their name “Ghost Rock”.

The Swasey brothers herded cattle and rounded up wild horses.  They settled in San Rafael County very near the Ghost Rock formations.

So see, they aren’t just rock formations – they actually have a story.

Hi Belinda -- I saw this when you posted last night and came back again this morning -- still can't see any ghosts in the rock formations but the story is a good one to know.  Hope the end of your trip home is safe and uneventful.   Have a nice weekend.

Hi Belinda - The party is almost over, and it's time to get back to work. I hope you had a great vacation and got the down time you needed. As for Will covering your business, I heard that no one was seriously injured.
