Jennifer Carroll As Maud in "Maud of Leaskdale""Maud of Leaskdale" Don't miss it. Excellent !

Staring Uxbridge Actress Jennifer Carroll

From The Personal Journals of L.M. Montgomery.

If you have not seen "Maud Of Leaskdale" yet I encourage you to do so but you will have to hurry as there are only 3 performances left. "Maud of Leaskdale" is the story of Lucy Maud Montgomery during her time in Leaskdale (1911 to 1926) in her own words. Conceived and directed by Conrad Boyce it follows the life of L.M. Montgomery through a time of simple joys and heart-rending tragedy. As you sit, thinking about what you are about to see, waiting for the play to start your thoughts are suddenly interrupted as "Maud" enters talking about the long wretched road to Leaskdale.

I recently spent a very delightful evening with "Maud of Leaskdale" and it was truly "Excellent!" If you are a fan or simply enjoyed the books you won't want to miss this insightful look into the Author in her own words.

The Three remaining performances are:

  • August 26th at 3:00pm and 7:30pm
  • September 3rd at 3:00pm

At the Historical Leaskdale Church where her husband  Ewan Macdonald was the minister from 1910 to 1926.

Lucy Maud Montgomery Society Of Ontario

The Society owns the Historic Leaskdale Church (the former St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church where Ewan Macdonald was the minister from 1910 to 1926) and operates the Leaskdale Manse National Historical Site, a museum which is open to the public. Both are used to used to showcase the life of Montgomery in Leaskdale.

It was in The Manse that the author of "Anne of Green Gables" lived for fifteen years, and here wrote eleven of her twenty-two novels, including "Anne of the Island" (1915) and "Anne's House of Dreams" (1916). Born in 1874 at Clifton, Prince Edward Island, she was educated at Charlottetown and Halifax. From 1898 to 1911, she lived at Cavendish, P.E.I., and there began her career as a novelist. In 1911 she married the Rev. Ewan Macdonald, a Presbyterian minister, and came with him to Leaskdale. They moved in 1926 to Norval, and nine years later to Toronto, where she died in 1942. Mrs. Macdonald was awarded the O.B.E. by King George V in 1935
