Is it a good idea to put your home on the market in Sacramento right before Labor Day? It depends, I suppose. If you don't care if your entire Labor Day Weekend is spent being hounded by home buyers, agents calling to see your home, then by all means, go ahead.
Usually, I would advise a seller to wait until after Labor Day, and now I would still advise it, except for a different reason. Previously, it would be because there aren't as many buyers out looking for homes over Labor Day. Most people, believe it or not, spend time with relatives and friends, and others leave town. It's best to limit the days on market in a listing if you can, and attract the largest pool of buyers during the smallest window. That's what drives demand and really good offers. But today I'd say wait just so you can come on the market with a big bang and fireworks that are under your own control. The first week in September is going to be a very busy week for real estate in Sacramento.
Lately, agents have been emailing and calling to ask what my sellers will do. Do I have a Magic 8 ball like Melissa?
