Fishers Indiana's outstanding school system - Hamilton Southeastern Schools - is a primary reason the town is routinely selected as one of the best places to live in the U.S. CNNMoney cited Fishers' excellent schools as a reason for awarding it the #12 spot on its 2012 list of Best Places to Live in America. Many families choose to live in or relocate to Fishers specifically so that their children can attend HSE schools.
You don't necessarily have to limit your home search to Fishers in order to take advantage of HSE schools, though. There are several neighborhoods north of Fishers in Noblesville, and near Geist Reservoir in McCordsville, Fortville and Indianapolis that are zoned for HSE schools.
The secret to finding these neighborhoods is in the search. First, you need to find a property search that allows you to search by school district - not all of them do. The property search shown here makes it easy by listing all school district options for a particular city.
So, if you prefer the small-town atmosphere of Noblesville (which also has a highly rated school system, by the way!), but have your heart set on HSE schools, just start your search with the City (Noblesville), choose All Townships and then select the School District you want. You'll get a list of all properties currently on the market that meet your criteria. If you want to narrow things down even more, you can specify a price range, number of bedrooms, square footage and more.
You should also let your REALTOR® know that although you want HSE schools, you are willing to look outside of Fishers. Also keep in mind that school district zoning changes. A neighborhood that is now zoned for HSE schools may not be a few years down the road.
You can also confirm Hamilton Southeastern school zoning by referring to boundary maps or searching by subdivision on the HSE web site.
