The Tide is Turning...

By
Real Estate Agent with Price & Company Realty

The latest market data report has been released from the South Carolina Association of REALTORS, indicating that not only was 2007 another record year for South Carolina, but that pending sales activity (especially on the coast) has already increased.

The one challenge that the SCAR mentioned will be our biggest obstacle... consumer confidence.  The negative hype, and the gloom-and-doom reporting, make it seem like our market is in much worse shape.  The truth of the matter is, we're in fantastic shape and we're getting better every day.

As the SCAR CEO Nick Kremydas says, "Talking about national averages is about as effective as having a national weather forecast.  Like the weather, all real estate markets are local."

You hit the nail on the head... consumer confidence. If Brian Williams and his group as well as many small market papers (ours included) bombard us with tales of bad markets, defaults, foreclousres, buyers and seller lose confidence.

I am the President of the local associaion and at our monthly meeting on Wed. I told members that we need to focus on the positive in every aspect and everyplace we are. Be it the coffee shop, the grocery store, after church or wherever... in our area the time is still right to buy a home for personal use... and rates aren't too bad either.

Christopher, I read the report this morning and was thrilled! I am tempted to write a letter to the editor of our local paper asking them to report the real estate news fairly..and not just report what seems to be popular!!

I agree, it is turning. I have sold 14 homes in 14 days out here. Don't ask me how...but working 12 hours a day has helped!
