Thinking of President

I watched Condoleezza Rice speaking at the Republican National Convention today. I have utmost respect for her. Bright, composed, interesting…

Got her Ph.D. at age 26. She studied music, and her major was piano, but she later changed for political sciences, but still she is an excellent serious piano player.

There were a few excellent speeches at the convention, and hers was the first really good speech.

It really came as little surprise that she did not use teleprompter.

I would love to see her back in the White House at some time.

Best if as President.

Winston - I did not understand what is wrong with conventions. Why telephone did not replace Realtors' Conventions, but had to replace party conventions?

She is way too moderate for the current extreme right wing Republican party. Perhaps she has a future in California politics but not on the national Republican ticket.

Dale - they are not using taxpayer money, so why is the concern?

Jon, The 2004 Republican convention in NYC cost NYC taxpayers plenty even though Mayor Bloomberg wrote a personal check for $7 million to George Bush.

Mitchell - radicalization in the left levels up by radicalization on the right. So this is not a surprise, but I did  not think this was a problem for her.

We wouldn't know as she is shying from public service at this time.

Mitchell, then Realtors Conventions also cost taxpayers, but if it is fine for them, it should be as fine for the party conventions

Conventions are supposed to bring revenue to the host city. THe conventioneers are supposed to spend money to offset costs. The Republicans did not spend much money in NYC. They spent far less than ordinary tourists. They didn't go to Broadway shows or dine in restaurants. Mary Poppins was too risque for them,-)

Mitchell - please, do not tell me they were all on diet... Did they just smuggle booz and canned food into their hotel rooms?

In what way were Clinton and Obama's foreign policy an "exceptional failure?"

Karl - Are you serious? - Here you go:

1. Libya

2. Drone strikes in Pakistan

3. Troop increase in Afghanistan

4. Sanctions on Iran

5. Drone strikes in Yemen

6. Killing of US Citizens

7. NDAA

8. Guantanamo Bay

9. Leaving 50k private army in Iraq

etc..

And that is just Obama. Clinton was so bad that George Bush ran on a humble foreign policy!

Jon - I don't know. She was part of an administration that carried out the worst foreign policies I have seen.

Karl - as for current administration, I thought that it is obvious. It is interesting that if you compare current administration with the previous, and I am not saying that they had great or even good foreign policy, and look at it with the eyes of people in other countries, it is a huge difference. I am watching Russian media and private forums, and while they did not like Bush, he was a force. Obama is a joke, and it is shameful.

I did not mean foreign policy, while commenting. His failures are in the direction.

And under escapades I meant Clinton's affairs, not his foreign policy, hence I called it "escapades"

Satar - I still think that in failures current president beats the previous by a big margin

She definitely seems like a do-er and not just a typical politician blowing hot air and empty promises.  I saw her speak in person at the NAR convention back in 2009 in San Diego.

And I do highly respect Condoleezza Rice

She is a serious person of great intellect. I agree completely that she would be an asset to this country if she came to the White House
