This is a shout out for Gunning and Company estate sales in the Mainline and Philadelphia area. We contacted Michael Gunning at Gunning and Company a few months ago to enlist their assistance to help a family member offload a substantial amount of art, antiques, furniture, rugs, crystal, dishes, collectibles, tools, and more, as this historic country home in West Chester is being sold and the owner will be relocating and downsizing.
This has been a significant job – a 5,600 SF 15 room home with the majority of the possessions to be cataloged (except the items for other family members and personal use) and photographed, which took weeks.
In recent weeks Gunning and Company staff spent many hours at the home organizing the contents in a more limited set of rooms on 2 floors for viewing, and preserving some private space during the sale, and of course pricing EVERY item and staging the rooms to show off the contents as well as possible.
Gunning and Company has been incredible from the beginning – the estate sale starts tomorrow and runs through Labor Day.
I cannot say enough about their sensitivity to the situation, the thoroughness of their inventory (everything is recorded and photographed), and the care they have taken to make certain every detail is attended to before and during the sale (parking, hours, signage, website, access to and from the house, security). It has been a monumental job thus far, as no doubt this large sale will be as well.
Gunning and Company has truly done an exceptional job and I would recommend them without any reservation to anyone in the greater Philadelphia area who needs assistance with liquidation, estate or moving sales. They have tons of experience and know what sells in this market and for what.
They have substantial experience with all sorts of homes and contents from sales since the early 1960s, and also incorporate an ebay store into their services where appropriate. Fees, including administrative and staff, are based on a percentage of the total sale.
