Looking for a unique way to celebrate Labor Day weekend? Do you love food? Northern Virginia's Middle Eastern Food Festival comes to McLean, VA this Saturday and Sunday, September 1st & 2nd. Holy Transfiguration Melkite Greek-Catholic Church (8501 Lewinsville Rd) will be hosting this two day event celebrating the food and heritage of Middle Eastern people.
In addition to door prizes and a 50-50 raffle, there will be tons of activities for the kids to enjoy, such as the bouncy house and pony rides. Tours of the Byzantine Church will be available all weekend. Play backgammon and chess from 12pm to 6pm on Saturday and 12pm to 5pm on Sunday. Learn to dance the Dabke, a traditional Arabic folk dance, from the professional Debkeh Dancers and Group Debkeh. To really get involved, join in on the Middle Eastern Hafli on Saturday from 6pm to 11pm with live music and dancing.
Throughout the entire weekend, Middle Eastern goodies, such as kabobs, falafel, spinach and meat pies and delicious Arabic pastries, will be made available for you to taste. An authentic Middle Eastern roast lamb dinner will be served from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday and 12pm to 6pm on Sunday for just $12 per person. Closing ceremonies will take place at 6pm on Sunday.
