I got the hitch but forgot to shoot the truck!

truck trailer hitch

I don’t consider myself a clumsy man, but I have had a recurring accident on the work site. The same injury accident happens to those around me, and it is Shin against a trailer hitchpainful. The injury centers around the trailer hitch in the back of my truck and no one is immune to the experience. The trailer hitch isn’t to blame; it just sits there unmoving in the same place every day for years.

The problem occurs while hovering around the truck bed focused on getting something out of the back. The steel hitches can inflict great pain when struck with the shin. Since there is no fat or muscle to protect the shin, so the impact to the bone is protected only by the skin of the leg. We have had blood flowing from the trailer hitch injury regularly.

While at a local home improvement store, I saw a truck with the words “Hitch Huggies” on the side of the truck. It certainly caught my eye, so I walked to check out the hitch of the truck. Hitch Huggies is a product to protect those of us that hit the trailer hitch with their legs. As you can see in the photo, it is a one piece rubber boot that covers the area that can be impacted when walking by the trailer hitch.

The hitch could be the perfect gift for the contractor, boater, or camper or anyone who uses a trailer hitch on a regular basis. There is an optional space for your custom logo to be printed.

In my haste, I did not get the information to buy the product. When I exited the store, the truck was gone. I figured I’d be able to just Google it for information, but I was wrong. I am still searching for the product online. I may have better luck searching for the truck.  J

Tom, Sounds like a great idea.  Shins are kind of fragile and that rubber wrap sounds like the perfect solution.  Still looks professional and does the job.

Good morning Tom. Hitch Huggies...now that's an idea. You always find the unusual, the bizarre and the different. I hope you get it and protect those legs.

Lucky for my shins the hitch on SUV doesn't stick out as far as the one on your truck.  I can see how that could be a reoccurring problem.  Wish I had invented the rubber cover.... I'd be retired :)

That sounds painful, Tom. And what a great idea; I'm surprised you haven't been able to find it online. I thought everything was online these days. Did you try Facebook?

Hi Tom - Try googling trailer hitch shin shields or trailer hitch leg guards - there seem to be a bunch of different styles.

There are many guards out there, I was looking for this one in particular Dick. Maybe they could use a lesson in SEO.   :)
