Treasure Island Sailing Center Big Team Regatta 2012
Thursday, August 23rd, TISC partnered with PG&E and the America’s Cup Event Authority to bring over 100 inner-city youth to the America’s Cup World Series Youth Day. We organized the youth by partnering with the Mission Beacon Center. PG&E paid for transportation, a meal, reserved bleacher seating to watch the race and also was able to get the students front row seats to the Q&A with the pro sailors afterwards.
We still have 2 boats open for corporate sponsors to enter a team and take part in an a once in a life time opportunity for team building and help provides hundreds of children a chance to experience the thrill of sailing in the most beautiful place on earth, the San Francisco Bay.
Treasure Island Sailing Center Big Team Regatta 2012
The Treasure Island Sailing Center is gearing up to host our largest fundraiser of the year to support our youth scholarship fund! The BIG Team Regatta is a corporate sailing challenge that will be held on Friday, September 28th, 2012 at OCSC Sailing in Berkeley.
My collegue Chris Cole, has been an active board member and raising money for their at risk youth scholorship fund for 10 consecutive years.
"All of the funds raised at this event go directly to pay for scholorship to allow kids from every socioeconomic background the opportunty to exepierenc sailing in the most beautiful place oin earth, right here in the San Francisco Bay." Chris Cole
Our goal: OCSC and GEL, which specializes in sailboat-based team building and leadership training, hope to raise over $50,000 to support the youth and adaptive sailing programs of the Treasure Island Sailing Center (TISC).
Three important reasons for regatta sponsorship:Raise Money for a Great Cause.
Support the Treasure Island Sailing Center (TISC) youth and adaptive sailing programs, which has served over 10,000 participants with approximately 75% on scholarship for the past 12 years. TISC emphasizes full community involvement through offering unlimited scholarships to participants who come from economically disadvantaged families. Sailing teaches these youth many valuable life lessons and skills such as:
- Teamwork
- Communication
- Responsibility
- Critical thinking and decision making
Invest in Corporate Philanthropy. Many companies are making an investment in their community to become more competitive.
- Corporate success in large part depends on the local environment - an appropriate infrastructure, the right types and quality of education for future employees, quality of institutions, and so on
- A company's social initiatives can have great impact for the organization, including securing local and national PR
- Help create value in the SF/Bay Area community and do the right thing by supporting TISC's sailing programs
Take Advantage of a Huge Brand, Team and Customer-Relationship Building Opportunity.
- Expert coaches will take a group of executives, staff or clients/customers, and transform them from non-sailors into racers!
- Secure significant local and national PR for the company through press invited to cover the regatta (e.g., firm name on the mainsail, event photographers in regatta's photo boat, news story)
- Your group will learn new skills, gel as a team and have a blast on the race course, all the while raising money for TISC
How you can help
- Become a corporate sponsor by donating $5,000 to participate in this event with 4 co-workers
- Donate to the BIG Team Regatta scholarship fund for TISC
- Volunteer to help with this event
- Make an In-Kind donation to this event. Such as wine, gifts, catering, etc.
Any help is very much appreciated. Every additional team and sponsored sailboat will make a huge impact on TISC's 2012 programs. To enter a team, buy a $75 ticket on the Spectator Boat and attend Awards Party or make a pledge and donate directly to TISC, visit the BIG Team Regatta Website or call 415-421-2225
