A recent comment on one of my posts stated that my blog posts were always short and simple, and it was stated as a compliment not a criticism. It reminded me of how important simplicity is to me and to my business. I am a promoter of “everything simple.”
It may be a flaw in my personality, but there are many things that I consider ideal if they are done “simply.” There is nothing more discouraging than having to read a 2000+ word blog post. I just cannot do it, and if I need to, it had better be spectacular and hold every moment of my interest.
Instructions need to be stated simply or I won’t bother spending the time to decipher. There’s nothing more abusive than a complex set of instructions to anything. It should be numbered and stated in a simple fashion.
Providing information about a property can be overdone if the narrative is lengthy and every detail of the home is described. Leave something for the reader to look forward to seeing for the first time and appreciating; allow the reader to be teased with just a few facts and features; and give the reader a reason to call you. If you give it all away, they will eliminate it without seeing it.
Simplicity is a golden nugget that needs to be managed properly and used as often as possible. Simplicity has great value, and if we learn to keep what we are attempting to accomplish simple, more people will be attracted to what we do and will understand and feel more connected to us. Good things result from simplicity.
