Labor Day - Remember a Year Ago in New England

Real Estate Agent with RI Real Estate Services ~ 401-529-7849~ RI Waterfront Real Estate

Labor Day - Remember a Year Ago in New England.  Looking back on a year ago after the damage from Tropical Storm Irene, it reminds me of Isaac's damage to the Gulf states.  Although many are resting this Labor Day, many are struggling to bring their real estate back to what it was.

Labor Day - Remember a Year Ago in New England

The weather is a constant challenge to keep our real estate sound and protected.  It is hurricane time in our Rhode Island real estate world and that can not be forgotten.  Know your shore changes, your flood zones and have your homeowners insurance up to date.  Hmm, maybe not something to do on a restful Labor Day but it will be your labor of love for the future.

Our RI coastline has truly changed a lot in a year and we have lost some coastline.

North Kingstown's Own Real Estate in a Mini Niagra Falls

Here on Narragansett Bay, the North Kingstown coast had another big shift in the Mount View neighborhood.  An actual 2 foot waterfall was created from an inlet emptying out to the Bay on the Mount View beach.  We have this to remember on  this Labor Day, it is a day to be thankful of the Rhode Island waterfront that we have.

If you need help from a RI waterfront professional that knows about flood zones, elevation home needs and best Rhode Island real estate buys, call me at 401.529.7849 or email me at

Anita, it is hard to watch all these people struggle with the storms...they are life changing & being prepared makes the difference.

Joan, it is part of the coastal areas heritage that coastlines will change over be prepared.

Ginny - I remember Irene well - some of the worst flooding in our area for 100 years! Sage advice because when these storms hit, you have to be prepared and any coastal area is in danger of major flooding and wind damage. Happy Labor Day!

Ginny you are right there are many homeowners down South right now that are laboring from the damage done by Isaac.  We are truly blessed to not have to be dealing with the same here in New England.

I also remember Hurricane Irene for NYC, I agree that being mindful of your local area and how the elements can damage your property is great advice.
