Bellaire High School - 2008 Bill Archer Internship Program

Jamie Zoller is thrilled to have been selected as an intern for the 2008 Bill Archer Internship Program. As a junior she will represent Bellaire High School which is located in Bellaire, Texas.  This is a prestigious internship which was established in 1971 by U.S. Representative Bill Archer in 1971.  The internship is an all expense paid program to be held in Washington, D.C. in March.  One fortunate and deserving junior student from each high school in the 7th District of Texas will spend time in briefings, meetings, presentations and listening to a variety of speakers such as Congressmen, Senators, and various other important and influential people in the legislative, judicial and executive branches of our government.  In the evenings the students will learn more about the site's in Washington, D.C.

U.S. Representative John Culberson (R-Houston) succeeded Chairman Bill Archer.  Culberson continued this worthwhile program and renamed the program in Bill Archer's honor.

As part of the requirements for this honor, Jamie Zoller wrote an essay which was considered by a committee of teachers and coordinators.  The committee selected four essays which were voted on by all the juniors attending Bellaire High.  Jamie received the majority of the votes and was selected as the student intern to represent Bellaire High School in the Bill Archer Internship Program.

If you have a chance, please take the opportunity to congratulate Jamie on this great honor.  I know she will greatly appreciate it.

Bob - Thank you for your comment.  It's such a treat for students to visit Washington, D.C.  This trip will take Jamie out of her comfort zone, but she'll have so many opportunities to see D.C. in a way that I've never had a chance (and since my grandparents lived near there . . . I visited D.C. frequently) and to meet other students from other high schools in the area. I imagine that she'll form relationships that she'll always remember.

I'm so glad your visit was a highlight for you.  Each of us needs to have something special like that in their lives to remember.

Jamie is soooooo excited!!! I will get your comment to her this evening.
