Cottage or Castle, What's Your Dream! -I know it is grammatically incorrect to end a question with an exclamation point. The reason I did this; I believe home ownership is the American Dream. For some it may be a simple cottage, others need a mansion to fit the bill. Whatever it is, dreams are exciting; hence, the exclamation point.
As we enter the third trimester* of the year, there are only four months left to find that dream home or the buyer that knows what their dream home looks like. The best way to accomplish this mission is to ask these questions:
- What do you want?
- What do you need?
- When do you need it by?
- Describe your dream home for me. Do you have the time to find it?
These four questions are critical. Often, there is not enough time to find that "dream home" so I work with my clients on a short term and long term basis. You would be surprised how often I am able to contact a buyer long after a purchase has closed, sometimes it takes years, with the good news that I found their dream home.
I suggest to both agents and buyers that you answer these four questions. You may be surprised with your answers or your clients answers. At the end of the day, every one will be much happier as you search for your "dream home".
*I based my 2012 business model on trimesters instead of quarters. This has proven to be much more productive and profitable. Previously, there was so much pressure to make sales in the final quarter with the holidays looming upon us. I get the extra month of September to build momentum. It's worked so far.
