It's amazing what a little De-cluttering can do by Feng Shui Manhattan NY

De-cluttering is one of the most recognized principles in Feng Shui, while being the easiest but also the most time consuming process. Is it worth it you may ask? Absolutely.  When you re-organize or de-clutter it's more than just decorating. It symbolizes you re-organizing your life, which mirrors how you see the world and how the world sees you.

Below is a step by step process of transformed space which took about 45 minutes to an hour.  The reason it took that long was because I had to carefully go threw all the paperwork that was on the floor in the photos below. The one major moved from my office was a smaller book shelf.  It was moved into the dining room.  You'll see this at the end of the post.

Stage one: Asses the mess                      Stage two: buy a $20.00 book shelve from Target

Stage 3: start organizing and       Stage 4: Organize the book shelf

assessing what you really need

Stage 5: make some final adjustments with placement of items on the bookshelf unit and final assessments of papers, objects and any other items you may or may not need

This is the final product of re-organizing, at least for now ;)

As for the original book shelf unit that was in the office, it has been moved into the dining room area to hold the variety of books I like to read after a great home cooked meal.

Decluttering is so hard. I had a client who recently had to do it and I could tell how difficult it was for them. I struggle with it due to having a 3 1/2 year old and all those toys!

Cleaning it up is a great way to sell a home! The clutter confuses buyers and they don't get past the mess.

Many homes do need decluttering. The before and after pictures tell the story.

Have a most productive September and be sure to have your camera in hand to capture the special moments.

Doesn't decluttering just make a home feel better (not to mention sell better!). I always fell in love with my house all over again when I decluttered and staged to sell.
