Too much stuff... downsize using Transition Squad

Home staging in the Vaughan area does have one very time consuming challenge before we can stage the home for sale.

Garage sales are not popular in this area so almost every older home has from two to three decades of stuff in their home.

When Advantage Staging conducts a room by room consultation, I can see the home owners getting very overwhelmed with the thought of how to get the items not needed for staging out of sight so that the home appears spacious and bright for the buyers.

That's where the Transition Squad comes into play.

When you call Transition Squad you will hear the very lovely voice of Laura.

Laura and I work together with home owners who are downsizing or just looking to declutter their homes before they move to their new home.

Transition Squad offers packing, in home estate sales, online auctions and even have their own consignment store at 3200 Dufferin Street.

Once the goods are packed or sold, that's when Advantage Staging arrives to stage your home for sale.

It's as easy as one, two, three when you have a plan and professionals to help you.

Step one is the room by room consultation.

Step two is the prep work to get the home in condition to be staged. That may be packing up, painting, cleaning, repair work or yard work.

Step three is staging day. The day that your home is prepared for listing photos and open houses.

Transition Squad and Advantage Staging plan to make your next move as stress free as possible.

If you would like to have a professional team handle your next move we are ready to start when you are!

Hi Michelle ~ What a great idea for you to partner with Transition Squad -- that's a win-win for everyone involved and must be a huge help to sellers who'd get overwhelmed with clearing out decades of "stuff."  Sellers in your area are lucky to have your complete services which now include help with maximizing the equity in not only their home, but also their belongings.

Michelle- I think this is a great idea.  So many of our clients are overwhelmed at the thought of giving away, donating, or selling items they will no longer need.  Working with The Transition Squad will help them through this process!

Preparing your property for sale

Hi Alan, I had never heard of  a company like this before either. I hardly ever watch TV but one night last week I caught the news and this company had taken a commercial during the news cast. Really by chance that I know about them. I contacted them the same day and visited them soon after that. My clients has used their services already and everyone is happy.  Win, win, win for the home owners, Transition Squad and for me to be able to stage much more quickly than if the home owners were left to their own devices.

Hi Ty, I hope to spread the word here on AR. Hopefully someone else will start a business in their home town to provide these services. This company is booked solid around here.

Hi Maureen, packing was never a service I offered as I don't carry insurance to pack. I always recommended my clients to a moving company. This company seems to be a happy medium on pricing and they offer every service from junk removal to packing to selling the goods at their auction or in their consignment store.

Hi Kathy, it has been a life saver already for one of my clients. He literally was on his own and just couldn't manage everything to be done before selling his house. So glad I found them!

Hi Julia, I have thought long and hard about starting up my own consignment shop for all the stuff that home owners don't want to take to their new homes. I never did find a model that would work for me. These people have great staff in place who enjoy each aspect of what they do so they make it seem less like a lot of hard work. Can't say enough good things about them. Hope you find someone soon in your area.

Michelle, I have worked with a woman who is great at this. She knows all the local donation centers, knows what companies will pick up furniture/large items, will hold garage sales for the seller, knows antique dealers to call for appraisals...what a huge help to my clients. With our aging population, I think this could be a growing profession.

Preparing your property for sale

HI Karen, I think it is a growing segment of our work. Most families still want to muddle through on their own right now but the families that are short on time definitely want these type of services and are willing to  pay for them.

When the clients use a service  like this it allows for less family friction and the home prepared for sale in a timely manner.

Michelle - What a great collaboration.  Transition Squad sounds like such a great resource.  Love that they take all the angst out of where to sell, donate or recycle home items.

HI Sally, there is so much agnst when home owners are decluttering. It seems the items represent either a whole pile of money to them which they can't part with even though they haven't used it in several decades or it is an emotional tie. At least with the emotional ties I can suggest that they take pictures of the item and then they can look at it whenever they want to.

I find it is the looking at the item not the actual "having the items"  is what the home owner needs.
