Valley View Ferry founded in 1780, provides passage over the Kentucky River. This ferry is regarded as the commonwealths oldest continually operating business.
Daniel Boone, Henry Clay and Ulysses S. Grant have been known to be among its passengers. Ferry remained a privately owned business for about 200 years. Now owed by Fayette, Madison and Jessamine counties.
It is estimated to take about 250 cars across the river each day. This is just another example of the quaint things Kentucky has to offer.
