The neighborhoods of Riverside, Rhode Island 02915
This post did so well, I thought I'd re-post it.
I live in Riverside, RI which is part of the city of East Providence, RI.
There are 4 neighborhoods in Riverside.
1. Boyden Heights
2. Village Park
3. Riverside
4. Kent Corner
Boyden Heights- This neighborhood runs from the Squantum Woods State Park, down RT 103 Pawtucket Ave and Bullocks Point Ave ending in Riverside Square where Turner Ave meets Bullocks Point Ave. In this neighborhood there is a small state park great for picnics, and the Squantum Club used for wedding receptions and other functions. This neighborhood is a mix of residential and business. It also has Silver Springs a 9 hole golf club on Pawtucket Ave. Kids and adults use this area in the winter as a great place to go sledding. It's got great hills! Riverside Square has several businesses such as Riverside Grill (great place for hot weiners and seafood), Dari Bee a long standing ice cream shop, and several stores and a pizza restaurant.
Above is a old post card picture of the turn of the century amusement park named Boyden Heights Amusement Park.
Village Park- This neighborhood encompasses the area around RT114 Wampanoag Trail, RT 103 Pawtucket Ave to Village Green Park. This is also a mix of residential and businesses. Winchester Park (formally known as Village Green Park) is a apartment/townhouse condo complex which are rentals. St. Mary's Academy Bayview is also located in this area.
Riverside- This neighborhood goes from Riverside Square on Bullocks Point Ave all the way down to encompass Narragansett Terrace to Pawtucket Ave including Willett Ave down to Turner Ave. This neighborhood is quite large, and is mostly considered a residential area, with business intermingled. Willett Ave Pond, a well known fishing hole; is smack in the middle of this neighborhood. A well know place called Schroeder's Deli (great place to get fresh made grinders- Rhode Islanders know what a grinder is.) The oldest Girl Scout Meeting House is also located in this area on Willett Ave. This neighborhood ends at the old Crescent Park Amusement Park or the Loof Carosel and includes the Narragansett Terrace area along the picturesque Narragansett Bay.
Kent Corners- The southern most of the Riverside neighborhoods borders the town of Barrington, RI. It runs from Riverside Middle School on Forbes St, down Willett Ave (RT 103E) to Crescent View Ave, Grassy Plains, Rounds Ave to Wampanoag Trail. This neighborhood is mostly residential, but has a small shopping center on Willett Ave with a Shaw's Grocery store, McGreen's Liquor store, Citizen's Bank and so on. Town Pizza and the local Dunkin Donut's is located smack in the middle of this neighborhood.
Most the neighborhoods in Riverside have tree lined streets. The main streets mostly have sidewalks which makes walking your dog easy. There are playgrounds, and parks throughout Riverside (I'll be blogging about these soon.). One of the best things about living in Riverside is being close to the water no matter what neighborhood you live in. If you have any questions about Riverside or anything of the towns in Rhode Island, contact me, I'd be glad to show you the neighborhoods of Riverside, RI 02915
