Have you seen the loan website Esteemed Lending Services, that offers "A Loan for every situation. Guaranteed?"
Sounds good, doesn't it! Actually, it sounds a lot like what got the real estate market in the pickle we've been digging out of for a few years now. However if you go to the website, you'll find out it's a fake! It is part of the FTC's stepped up consumer education campaign to help consumers manage their money and learn to recognize rip offs.
The website is an educational example of what consumers face in the financial world -- too much bologna. The FTC explains its ruse with links to "testimonials," "FAQs," "loan programs," and "contact us," all of which point to warnings about scammers masquerading as lenders. There is some excellent information there for anyone shopping around for a mortgage.
