The Historic Wiesbaden Vapor Caves, Hot Springs and Hotel, Ouray, COThe Historic Wiesbaden Vapor Cave, Hot Springs and Hotel, Ouray, CO. The vapor caves are another Western Colorado must see attraction. This is the most fantastic place to get it away from it all and relax. At the Historic Wiesbaden Vapor Cave and Hot Springs you can really melt all your cares away. The natural mineral hot spring water comes from deep underground and runs into the vapor cave. There it collects in a shallow pool and keeps the cave at a steamy temperature that will open every pore you have. The Historic Wiesbaden Vapor Caves, Hot Springs and Loding, Ouray, COThere are several benches carved out of the natural rock for sitting. I like soaking in the cave's pool which can be as hot as 108 degrees. The natural spring water is heated somewhere way under ground and has many therapeutic benefits. Most everyone can tolerate the steamy temperature of the cave, but if the indoor pool is too hot, the hotel also has an outdoor pool. The temperature of the outdoor pool ranges from 99 to 102 degrees. It uses the same mineral hot spring water.

The outdoor pool also gives you wonderful views of the mountains that make up the box canyon of Ouray, Colorado.

The Historic Wiesbaden Vapor Caves, Hot Springs and Hotel also has full spa services available. Check out the hotel's website for more information. This link will take you to the hotel's website where you can check for availability, room rates and other services.

Great localism post! I love Ouray, but haven't been for almost 20 years! So this was very nostalgic, too. Thanks for the memories.

Sounds like a great place to visit. If I go to Denver to visit my brother I will try to go there if not too far.

Hi, Debbie...This is a place worth visiting. Most people just make Ouray a destination because it's so beautiful and has nice restaurants. It's more of a summer time destination, and that's why we go in the winter. Less people.

Hi, Carolyn...This is a wonderful and beautiful place to visit. You can still use the vapor cave even if you don't stay at this resort.

Hi, Joan...it's the best way I've found for total relaxation.

Hi, Myrl...when I get to Nevada, I will have to check out your hotsprings.

Hi, Juli...we try to get to Ouray for at least an overnight stay twice a year. It's a beautiful place and the vapor caves make it really special for me.

Hi, Gretchen...you will have to look me up if you decide to visit Ouray again. We'll do the hotsprings.

Hi, John...good work on getting in a bike ride. I'm still using the excuse that it's too hot. It was 85 degrees when I got home this evening. So I wrote this post instead of exercising.

Hi, Roger...the outdoor pool has the views. I use it to cool off from the cave.

Hi, Gita...this is about a five to six hour drive from Denver. You should take a trip to visit the Western side of Colorado. I would love to act as your tourguide.

Hi, Joanna...thanks. It's always an honor to get a featured post. These hotsprings are wonderful. Ouray also has a public pool that is great if you have kids. There's a water slide and all kinds of things for the kids to enjoy at the pool. This is also a natural hotspring fed mineral pool.

Hi Debbie - The scenery in that area is gorgeous. I did a quick dip in the pool years ago when Ride The Rockies came through, from Silverton on the way to Montrose - it was very refreshing.

Hi, Richie...I know it gets me. I love soaking in the cave. I spent several hours there and look forward to our visits every year.

Hi, Dick...that whole area has the most amazing scenery. I use to live in Telluride, so it's like going home for me. There is nothing like a relaxing soak in the hot springs or the cave.
