I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day! I had a three day weekend, so I felt inspired to get creative! I decided to make a nature box. I love the outdoors and I wanted to bring that into my home. Since I live in Colorado, nature is all around, but I like to have nature in my home for those snowy days when I can't go outside much. Here is my finished nature box.
How to make your own nature box:
- Choose a box or case of some kind to display your nature findings. For mine, I used a display case from my childhood. My grandparents originally gave me this case full of seashells from all over the world. Since I don't collect seashells anymore, I figured this case needed an update.
- Choose what you would like to put in you nature box. It can be anything; dried flowers, plants, leaves, acorns, ect. Get creative! In my box, I added potpourri so every time I open it, a lovely scent fills the air.
- Place out of the ordinary objects in your box along with your nature findings for added interest. In mine, I used a piece of clam shell I found on the beach, a few glass marbles and I wrapped a few of my twigs in twine.
- Sporadically place your findings and objects in your box. Before I placed anything in my box, I laid down some burlap on the bottom of my box; I didn't want my box to get ruined in any way in case I wanted to use it again for something else in the future. If you don't like the burlap idea, you can use brown paper or decorative paper instead.
- Now you you have a beautiful nature box on display! The great thing about this project is you can continue to add findings and objects in your box over time.
