Julian Castro: Mayor of San Antonio

Castro was born in San Antonio on September 16, 1974[2] to Maria "Rosie" Castro and Jessie Guzman.[3] He is the identical twin brother of politician Joaquín Castro.[2] His mother was a Chicano political activist who helped establish the Chicano political party La Raza Unida which means "The United Race".[4] She ran unsuccessfully for San Antonio City Council in 1971.[2] Known for being strong and a firebrand, she regards The Alamo as a symbol of bad times and has stated, "I can truly say that I hate that place and everything it stands for."[5] Castro has said, "My mother is probably the biggest reason that my brother and I are in public service. Growing up, she would take us to a lot of rallies and organizational meetings and other things that are very boring for an 8-, 9-, 10-year-old".[6] His father, Jessie Guzman, was a community activist in the 1970s and a retired math teacher.

One of Julian’s first acts as mayor in 2009 was hanging a 1971 La Raza Unida city council campaign poster, featuring his mother, in his office. While it’s possible that Castro was hanging the poster in deference to his mother, it is unimaginable that a candidate who was the son of one of the leaders of a white supremacist party would be given similar latitude.

He’s turned San Antonio into a sanctuary city, meaning its police aren’t allowed to cooperate with federal immigration authorities, he considers efforts to restrict illegal immigration to be anti-immigrant and even anti-Hispanic.

Jimmy Carter, yes the man of gas shortages and 20% inflation. And of course, his we can talk to the terrorists, we can be friends atitude.

Ted Kennedy,  "I can walk away from a drowning girl because I have friends in high places."  Yep, that Teddy Kennedy, he sure showed he loved women didn't he?

Nancy Keenan and NC Gov. Bev. Perdue:  Both have accused the Republican party of wanting to take women back to the days of coat hangers in back alleys, "there will be alot of dead women."  See Ted Kennedy above.

Rahm Emanuel, Mayor of the most dangerous city in America, Chicago:     "Never let a good crisis go to waste!"  That is unless the crisis is in your city and you are responsible for fixing it, then just ignore it

Rep. Barney Frank:  "It is my view that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are in great financial shape and should expand their purchases of mortgages."  Said just before the housing collapse.

Kamala Harris California Attorney General: What’s most important, and what I would love to see, is the highest court in the land ultimately make a decision, and the right decision. That would be to find that Prop. 8 is a violation of equal protection under the Constitution, and to stop denying LGBT people the right to marry.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris filed a brief with the California Supreme Court last week, supporting Sergio Garcia’s case to be admitted to the California Bar, reports CBS News. This is after he perjured himself and said he had never committed a crime on his law school bar exam application.

Elizabeth Warren Candidate for Senate:  "There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody."  Now where have I heard that before?

And my favorite:  Bill Clinton;  the man who parses the word is, has sex in the White House with an intern and lies about it, is impeached and loses his law license.

If this is the Democratic Party of today, heaven help America.

Selling Northwest Houston to good people like you!

That certainly seems to mirror the party that is being promoted to the public this week.  It appears that they are still using the same bolt of cloth.

As a Democrat I am very embarrassed this is not the party of our fathers. But taking God out of the platform did it for me. I will either become an activist for change to our party or an independent after November.

I am not understanding the point of your blog. Did they say something that you disagree with?

Satar, the point of the blog was simply this.  If these are the people that the left choose to honor, then I cannot be a Democrat.
