Fire Chief Edward Badamo announced via email yesterday that on September 11th 2012 at 10 am, the South Fire District will hold a 9/11 memorial ceremony and groundbreaking at the South District Firehouse on Randolph Rd and he encourages all members of the community to attend. Last year on the 10th anniversary, the department unveiled an 8' piece of WTC steel for the memorial. This year they will be sharing the final plans. The plans include commemorative personalized bricks, reflection benches, and new landscaping. All of the work on the memorial is projected to be completed for a ribbon cutting on September 11, 2013. Please join the department in honoring those who lost their lives. If you have any questions, you can call the station at 860-347-6661.
