What Can Go Wrong? Be Careful What You're Thinking!

What Can Go Wrong?

Have you ever gone into a situation and asked yourself "What can go wrong?"  And sure enough your mind comes up with several scenarios.  Not that you necessarily wanted to create any problems for yourself or your client but you just seemed to sense that there could be some issues arising.  And then it happens.  What you thought about actually comes to pass.  Is it magic or is it coincidence?  There are many who believe, as does this author, that what your mind conceives and believes it achieves and that goes for things that seem to be out of your control.  There is the belief that thought is energy and energy impacts other energy.  Hence it is possible that what you think may have the a affect of creating the very thing in which your mind is entertaining.

Ever say, "I'll never find a parking spot." or "I wonder if anyone is going to show up at the open house today."  How about, "I know I'm going to find a parking spot right away." or, "I'm going to sell this house today."  As I once was told, "be careful what you wish for because you most certainly will get it."

Maybe the question should be "What can go right?"

What do you thing about that?  Be careful!

This theory is called "self full filling prophecy" from basic psychology 101.  I'd also call it negative energy.  It is very true in Real Estate or anything else.

Frank, this is so true!  I try to focus on the positive outcomes and when those negative thoughts come to mind, replace them with positives.  Yesterday was a challenge for me so this reminder is much appreciated! Thanks for sharing.

I believe we get more of what we focus on and it seems so much easier at times to focus on the negative.

Frank: I admire your positive attitude. In real estate, I'm very optimistic however I know that things happen. They key is to move around the hurdles and continue going forward.

It's odd, because I really never think what can go wrong.  If it does, it does . . . and sometimes it does.  The power of positive thinking!!

Definitely  I agree.  I used to tend to the more negative, but over the years have developed a more positive aspect and can say - I always get that great parking space when I need one!

We definitely attract what we are thinking about - that's why we are warned to stay away from the 'negative Nelly's' at the office.

Frank, you say: "What you thought about actually comes to pass.  Is it magic or is it coincidence?"  It's neither magic nor coincidence.  I say it's 'experience'.  Eventually everything possible happens irrespective of our positive thoughts.  Sometimes anticipating the bad stuff prepares us to fix it when it happens.  Experience teaches us how to avoid the pitfalls that happen even with the most positive thinking.

Frank:

I am a positive person, so I don't usually approach life with the attitude that thing will go wrong.  But if they do go wrong, I immediately try and rectify them.

I discovered something about myself many years ago that amazed me and still does...Every time I start to doubt, I learned that is a sign that I was on the right track. For instance, just when I thought I was traveling correctly, I would state..I am lost only to find I nailed it. My systems work that way. Figuring out your self is the way to go
