I wrote over 1000 blogs? That can't be right, write, ... whatever
Having trouble thinking of something to blog about? Yeah, me, too. I struggle with this on a regular basis, but I'm resolving to do better. Bryan has some great ideas below.
How many times have you struggled to write a couple of posts in a week? Perhaps you got all "Shakespeare" and wrote 4 or 5 posts in a week. Now, imagine that done enough times to get to 1000. That's what I'm looking at. How did I get here?
Let's assume I wrote 10 posts per week, the perfect number to get to maximum points without going overboard. That's 100 weeks of consistent writing - no breaks for holidays - and almost 2 years. Yeah, that's what this feels like. I know I'd been doing this a while.
So, which posts work best? Here are a few tips:
- Hyperlocal in particular neighborhood specific posts that include an IDX feed for listings.
- Articles about specific subdivisions or developments (incuding condos) with IDX feeds.
- Anything that talks about building or remodeling homes
- Explanations of investing, calculating returns, and development
- Discussions of new construction and options to build vs. buy
- Articles on schools
- Hot local topics, even if controversial, if you're presenting facts (stay away from drawing lines in the sand)
OK, I've gotten a lot of help writing blogs over this time and there are quick a few people who contributed one way or another. I will leave someone out from this list but here goes...,
Bob Stewart (listen to him, seriously), Alan May, Phil Faranda, Tammy Lankford, John McCormack, Jerry Newman, Anna Kruchten, Leslie Ebersole, Evelyn Kennedy, Ron & Alexandra Seigel, Bob Gilbert, Debbie Gartner, Richard Weisser, Chris Ann Cleland, Eric Michael, Charita Cadenhead, Carla Muss-Jacobs, Kerrie Greenhalgh, Rebekah Radice, Lenn Harley, Tammy Emineth, Richard Yates, and I could go on.
YOU CAN WRITE 1000 BLOGS TOO!
It is within your power to write those blogs. I am not special. I am not unique. I am not Shakespeare. I'm just a guy who has taken the time to write 10 or more blogs every week. It's in my calendar so I do it - no questions. Take the time, do it, and you'll be celebrating this many articles too. Better yet, you'll be enjoying all the leads that come from writing good stuff. The people on this site provide you all the inspiration you need - just take the leap.
